Muni University held its 3rd Graduation ceremony on 2nd November 2019 at the University Campus.

107 Students graduated from three programs and of these 5 graduated with first class degrees. 53 students of the first cohort of Bachelor of Science of Education graduated with 4 females and 49 males. 22 students of Bachelor of Information Technology (18 Males 4 Females) and 32 of Bachelor of information Systems (23 Males and 9 Females).

The ceremony was graced by the 1st Deputy Prime Minister General Moses Ali who represented H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda as Chief Guest.

Gen. Ali expressed happiness at the fact that the need for more Science and Technology Teachers is being addressed and therefore called upon universities to review their plans to incorporate more Science and Technology programs and the necessary skills in the Academic Curriculum

He said the NRM has made strategic improvement by increasing on the number of Higher Education Institutions and expanding the capacity of old ones.

He commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Christine Dranzoa for having been selected among a few persons to develop the White Paper on the Makerere University Visitation Committee report, which he said when His Excellency ascends to will become Law.

He advised the graduands to live responsible lives.“Your conduct in terms of integrity, honesty, and hard work are key drivers to your skills in this world, the university has prepared you very well and I ask you to be good ambassadors for socio-economic transformations in your communities, I congratulate you and your Parents upon this achievement.” he concluded.

Dr. Robert Oceng, Director of Higher Education at Ministry of Education and Sports said he was pleased to hear about Students winning not only in National competitions but on the global scene and attributed this to the fact that Muni university was established on quality right from the start. He thanked the Council and Management for managing the university very well.

Responding to some challenges raised by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Oceng agreed that indeed there are financial challenges due to the fact that there are a number of competing demands that the Government is overseeing, including provision of infrastructure development for new universities, on the issue of challenges  of attracting Professors, he advised that University must develop their Staff as new Professors are not being created adding, he was happy that Muni University is empowering her own Staff who will lead the education very well.

He urged Parents not to get tired of supporting the Students and he cautioned the Students against dangerous practices like drugs, instead should use their natural energy, knowledge and consciousness to make decisions.

The Chancellor of Muni University Eng. Dr. Erick Tiyo Sekebuga Adriko, appreciated His Excellency for his historic and visionary actions in establishing Muni University as the 6th public University and also creating time to grace the recently concluded first ever West Nile Investment Symposium, 2019 that drew over 1000 investors, local and international participants and the Academia to the University as well.

He congratulated the Graduands for their hard work, commitment and dedication that they exhibited which enabled them to successfully complete their studies.
“I want to congratulate in a special way, the pioneer Graduands of Bachelor of Science with Education, who are graduating for the first time.  The country still needs more Science teachers and all of you are therefore welcomed to the world of work”. He added.

Professor Christine Dranzoa, the Vice Chancellor of Muni University extended special thanks to the Government of the Republic of Uganda, MoES, MoFPED, Chancellor, the University Council,Senate and Local Governments in Wet Nile region and all Partners for their unconditional support to the University.

She said since inception of the university in 2014/2015 academic year, the University has continued to produce quality graduates who join the world of work or create their own businesses with significant impact.

She congratulated the Graduands for their great well deserved academic achievement and thanked their Parents and Guardians for entrusting them in the Charge of the university.

The five Students who graduated with first class degrees, Kisakye Ssali, Atoke Jennifer Lucky, Tumwine Edson, Masifa Robert and Kaganda John Baptist were awarded each with Certificate of Academic Excellence.
