Landscape restoration through reforestation and river de-silting for nature conservation in northern Uganda (2013-2014). The aim of the landscape restoration project was to restore and conserve the River Asa landscape and ecosystem through river de-silting and afforestation with suitable and indigenous tree species (e.g. Khaya sp., Cacia sp., Albizia sp.). A restored and healthy River Asa landscape, which is adjacent to the Muni University Main Campus, is expected to generate alternative livelihoods, such as ecotourism, aquaculture, and irrigation, for Muni University and the surrounding community. Moreover, restoration of the landscape will support a wide range of wildlife and other biodiversity. The project is funded by the Rufford Small Grants Foundation (GB£6,000)
